How much does a UK Student visa cost in 2026?

Short answer: £558 for the application (the fee from 8 April 2026), plus the Immigration Health Surcharge of £776 for each year of the visa, paid upfront. A three-year degree is charged for about three and a half years, roughly £2,716, because the visa runs four months past the course end date.
The two amounts you always pay

Both are paid online when you apply. The surcharge is charged in six-month blocks for the full length of the visa, and a Student visa runs four months beyond the course end date, so a three-year degree is charged for about three and a half years: roughly £2,716.
Extras that may apply
- TB test, if you are applying from a country on the Home Office list: around £80 to £150 depending on the country.
- Priority processing, where offered: five working days or 24 hours for £500 to £1,000 on top of the fee.
- English test, if your university does not assess English itself: the test provider's own fee.
What the fee does not include
The money you must show for the visa (living costs of £1,529 a month in London or £1,171 elsewhere for up to nine months, plus any first-year tuition not yet paid) is evidence, not a payment.
